Project Type: Pavement & Bridge Construction
Client: Dept of Transport, Fed Highway Admin
Category: Pavement & Bridge Construction
Year Initiated / Completed: 2011 & 2011

MBC was contracted to construct the Halstead Meadow Bridge and to repair and preserve the Sequoia Kings Canyon Pavement. This project included 110 miles of chip seaing, 146 miles of crack sealing, 85 locations of patching and the construction of a 300 foot long 2-lane concrete bridge. The Sequoia National Forest encompasses treacherous mountainous terrain, with elevations up to 7300 feet. There were many challenging aspects to this project (including the fact that there was no cell phone reception) greatly impacting communication methods. The project was spread out over a 100 mile area, requiring five separate crews.  A well organized, thorough action plan with competent field leaders was need to ensure consistent work flow and quality productivity.
